What’s more magical than a glitter-filled unicorn party? Not much for a six year old! For my daughter’s birthday all she wanted was a unicorn. Thanks to the help of a local petting zoo, we were able to create a magical afternoon complete with unicorn rides, a petting farm and lots of sparkle!
As guest arrived, kids decorated unicorn masks similar to these and did other unicorn-themed crafts like unicorn crowns, unicorn suncatchers and wooden unicorn ornaments. The backyard was transformed into a petting zoo with goats, bunnies and sheep for the kids to pet while they waited for their ride on the unicorn through the wooded path. We also had face paint, music and bubble machine for the kids to enjoy!
The tables were decorated in pink and purple tablecloths. You can find similar ones here: Pink Taffeta Tablecloth, Purple Taffeta Tablecloth, Sequin Shimmer Tablecloth and Pink Table Tulle Skirt. For centerpieces, we used spray-painted mason jars and added gold unicorn stickers as accents. You can DIY using these items: Pre-painted Mason Jars and Unicorn Stickers. We also used these as utensil holders and straw holders!
For dessert, we offered Unicorn Cookies made with these Unicorn Cookie Cutters from our favorite local bakery, donuts from our daughter’s favorite deli topped with Unicorn Cupcake Toppers and a Unicorn Cake also from our local bakery, but you can make a DIY cake using this Unicorn Cake Topper.
A fun tradition a friend started was to have birthday guests sign a book each birthday based on the party theme. A couple of Unicorn books my daughters love include: Uni the Unicorn, I’m a Unicorn, Thelma the Unicorn and Goodnight Unicorn.
Don’t forget to send your guests home with a Thank You!
